Women target a different part of their cleavage in new craze

Woman targeting bra bulgeAs a leading cosmetic surgeon with worldwide experience, who has been involved with plastic surgery for over 20 years, I have seen a high number of plastic surgery trends come and go within the industry. Often, they are copycat trends with people mimicking the rich and famous by using plastic surgery in an attempt to look like them or achieve similar features. A good example would be the craze we’ve seen over the past few years with buttock enlargement seeing women hope to emulate stars like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.

This time, it’s a trend that has women searching for a remedy to what is being termed ‘bra bulge’.

What is bra bulge?

The ‘bra bulge’ is the area of flesh between the breast and the armpit that can, for some women, quite literally bulge out. It is usually emphasised by a tight bra or top pinching the area.

The women that are most likely to fall victim to ‘bra bulge’ are those with larger breasts. It is not a medical condition; however, it can cause women to feel considerably self-conscious.

Instinctively, many people are striving to look better. We are all beautiful in our own unique way, but if a woman (or man!) is self-conscious about a part of her body, then it is natural for her to seek an improvement.

Practitioners within the industry are claiming to have seen an increase in the number of requests for plastic surgery and non-invasive treatments to be performed on many unique body parts, including armpits, elbows, knees, ankles and now this radical new treatment that is claimed to reduce the ‘bra bulge’.

What treatment is available?

SculpSure is one treatment that is available. It’s a non-invasive, FDA-cleared laser treatment that passes laser light through the skin before heating the underlying fat cells. This begins a process called apoptosis, which is basically the programmed death of the cells, resulting in the fat cells disappearing.

Another non-invasive treatment is ULTRAcel, which is a state of the art microneedling treatment that uses radio frequency to deliver thermal energy and promote collagen growth and elastin production. This all results in tighter, smoother, firmer and fresher looking skin, and the treatment can be used on both the face and body.

Breast augmentation has been the most popular choice of plastic surgery among women for many years, and that has seen a new procedure hit the UK offering natural looking breasts with tiny scars. A recent survey has found that 63% of women considering breast augmentation were most put off due to a fear of scarring, so this sort of evolution in the procedure will go a long way towards reducing those fears.

The number of men turning to cosmetic procedures such as botox and fillers is also on the rise, with many believing it will increase their longevity and prospects in the workplace.

At Harley St Aesthetics, I offer a wide range of plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments. If you’re interested in my signature Split Muscle Breast Augmentation procedure or any of the other cosmetic procedures that I offer, please get in touch today to book an initial consultation with me so that we can go through your options.
